  1. Nice, Ben! As a pumpkin grower, I can appreciate the heft. I feel this one!

    • I felt the same. One can make a huge investment in caring for a pumpkin over the growing season. There can be many rewards, many heartbreaks. Many things can happen in the course of a summer. Even if the poet did not grow the pumpkin himslef, he could still feel a sense of relief, or burden, in contemplating the “pumpkin guts”.
